Summary
Installation - USSD 200SAS is a plug-and-play device that appears as a SCSI disk drive to the host computer’s operating system. Installation is as simple as adding another hard disk drive.
Capacity - Offered in a 2U rack mount form factor, the USSD 200SAS has a maximum storage capacity of 256 GB per unit.
The capacity can be scaled up by daisy chaining USSD devices in industry standard EIA-310-D 19” rack cabinets.
Interfaces – USSD 200SAS supports 3 Gb/s SAS interfaces and up to eight full duplex SAS (or sixteen simplex SATA) host connections per 2U chassis. USSD 200SAS supports SSP, STP, and SMP as defined in the Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Specification - version 1.0 and supports SATA as defined in the Serial ATA Specification - version 1.0.
Performance- The internal USSD 200SAS system data bandwidth of 20 GB/s delivers excellent response and performance, supporting up to 280,000 IOPS capability per 2U chassis. It offers 4.8 GB/s of random bandwidth.
Flexibility - USSD 200SAS is upgradeable with performance and capacity scaling. Connectivity can be rapidly expanded and modified to fit to your data center’s evolving requirements. USSD supports resource leveraging where multiple host computers share USSD capacity. USSD can be quickly assigned to different duties as the I/O bottleneck shifts during a 24 hour business cycle – for example, from accelerating production applications during the day to batch processing at night.
Reliability - The USSD 200SAS is built with mission critical requirements in mind, utilizing standard industry components of proven performance and quality including: redundant fans; redundant hot-swappable, load-sharing power supplies (2 Power Input Sources); and an industry-standard SES chassis with status reporting capabilities (Power on/off, system overheat, functionality of retention HDDs) via LED indicators. Reliability of USSD is further assured via its assembly by a world-class, ISO 9001:2000 certified manufacturer-integrator.
Data Integrity – USSD 200SAS provides Error Detection/Correction, 64 bytes dedicated per 512 bytes sector, and “failover” data ports. USSD supports up to 4 hot-swappable data retention HDDs for automatic memory backup when power is shut down by the operator, and restored when the power is switched back on. An optional external 1U rack mount UPS is available for power backup in the event of power interruption for installations that lack secondary power grid and centralized UPS power backup.
Manageability – The USSD 200 Series comes standard with management and diagnostic tools. USSD basic management can be administrated locally, from the front panel with an LCD display and control keys, or remotely via TELNET software and Ethernet TCP/IP hardware interfaces. An Automatic Self Diagnostic Function Test is part of the boot up process. Monitoring includes Fibre Channel port status and controller boards. Data administrators can choose from a comprehensive set of configuring parameters including Disk Backup, Administrator Password, Mapping Units to Ports, Fibre Channel Topology & ALPA, Viewing Logs, and Ethernet IP Configuration.
Interoperability - Our design process follows connectivity standards with precision, focusing on interoperability problem prevention by testing our appliances with industry leaders, including: LSI Logic, QLogic, Emulex, Cisco, Brocade, McData, etc. Data thus generated is continually used to refine the “anticipate and adapt” component of the USSD series firmware, resulting in a more intelligent product. USSD 200SAS supports all major Operating Systems including Linux, Windows, HP-UX, IBM AIX, Stratus VOS, FTX, Solaris, Apple OS.
Value - As an independent file caching resource with robust investment protection, USSD will follow your IT path should you migrate to different platforms or change server brands. It can prolong the life span of your legacy system servers as well as enable you to achieve maximum performance utilization from your latest server technology. It delivers the lowest cost per IOPS in the DDR-SDRAM SSD industry segment, low TCO, and unmatched ROI. In short, USSD changes the fundamental I/O economics of large-scale enterprise-class applications.
Unique Feature - USSD has what we call a “Universal Interfacing” capability. The Memory capacity of a single USSD can be accessed by multiple hosts via Fibre Channel, SCSI and SAS interfaces.
